Lovett Sundries: "At the end of the day it's love that keeps the world turning"

Lovett Sundries is simple, sustainable, and eco-friendly, with a nod to the vintage general stores of Appalachia where you could get everything you needed at one friendly shop. We use recyclable containers and minimal packaging. Our ingredients come from nature with the least amount of modification possible, so our customers know exactly what they are putting on their skin. We buy our natural ingredients from several distributors around the country and choose the most environmentally friendly options possible

What inspired you to create it

In 2012, Marit was diagnosed with breast cancer. She's always been incredibly healthy, so it was a real shock to be faced with the reality of such a serious diagnosis. We were never convinced that there was a direct connection between commercially manufactured personal-care products and cancer, but this wake-up call had us reading the ingredient labels that we'd never really paid attention to before. One unpronounceable ingredient after another left us feeling like there must be a better way.

What goes into making our collab product

Our love collaborations are our same simple all natural formulas accented by love's custom scent. Developing fragrances is something we've never focused on, so it has been a fun and satisfying way to share our products with new audiences.

How do you show yourself love

We are not only co-owners, but spouses and parents. We spend all day every day together, and while that may not be for everyone, it works perfectly for us. Owning a small business gives us the flexibility to be supportive of each other and our kids in a way that makes us feel spoiled. You know what they say... "Find a job doing something you love and you'll never take a day off again!" At least we think that's how the saying goes.

What is your favorite love song

Like so many of the things in our lives, we also share a favorite love song. *Classy Girls* by The Lumineers always reminds of the day we met and fell in love at a dingy bar on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in 2005. From that day on, we've been inseparable.

Jeff's last name is Lovett and using that name in the business was not something we decided to do on a whim. We did it because it sounds like what we want you to feel when you try our goods. You're going to love it! It feels like such a natural thing to collaborate with love. At the end of the day it's love that keeps the world turning. It somehow grounds us while leaving our heads in the clouds. Hopefully together we can bring a little more joy and delight to the world.
